   Welcome to MFI2008

I feel honored to host IEEE International Conference on Multisensor Fusion and Integration for Intelligent Systems (MFI 2008) at Korea University, Seoul, Korea on August 20-22, 2008. And it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the conference. MFI2008 is sponsored by IEEE RAS, and co-sponsored by IEEE IES. The objective of the conference is to report and explore the technical achievement in the field of multisensor fusion and integration, and it will provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and future directions in multisensor fusion and integration.

This is the 7th in a series of the biennial conference that began in Las Vegas in 1994, continuing to Washington D.C., Taipei, Baden-Baden, Tokyo, Heidelberg and now Seoul. It is the world leading conference devoted to the advancement of high technologies in multisensor fusion and integration. We would like to ask all of the distinguished scholars around the world to submit their excellent papers and research results on multisensor fusion and integration. Outstanding selected papers will be published in international journals. One of the best papers will be awarded with prize and certificate.

We would like to invite researchers and practitioners around the world to attend MFI 2008 to keep up with the recent advancement in the field of multisensor fusion and integration. Conference topics cover general theory, sensing architectures and real-world issues, and applications. Also, special program will include ubiquitous computing, security defense and signal processing.

We are planning the technical program that will consist of formal presentation including four plenary sessions and special sessions of invited papers. In addition to the technical program, an exciting series of social events are being planned to offer the participants of MFI 2008 the opportunities of understanding the Korean customs and her history. Tutorials and Workshops will be provided as shortly intensifying lectures prior to the conference.

For MFI 2008, we are making the best efforts to organize the conference that the high standards established in the previous conferences can be met in Seoul. We would like to take the opportunity to thank many individuals who are working hard to prepare for the successful MFI2008, Seoul.

Seoul, the capital city of Korea, has been playing political, economic, and cultural centers of Korea 600 years ago. Lots of magnificent mountains surround around Seoul and Hangang River runs along the center of Seoul. Among its numerous skyscrapers and glass towers, Seoul presents a number of royal palaces and ancient gates in different parts of its downtown. Seoul is in harmony of modern architectures and ancient heritages. We¡¯d invite you to experience charming and unique Seoul.

Sincerely yours,

Sukhan Lee
